Thank you, especially, for number 9. I absolutely HATE hearing parents bad-mouth their children, especially when it's right in front of them. Same with bad-mouthing a spouse also, and it's so common to hear. I've heard parents calling their kids names and talking about how awful they are even in the grocery store. How sad!

Love all of these. If the title was Eleven alternatives, I would add TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF. Even though the umbilical cord was cut many years ago, a primary caregiver's emotional state is transferable to the child. Your child can "feel" when something isn't right with my primary caregiver and it can generate misbehavior and feelings of uneasiness. As I usually say, adult emotional chaos can result in irreparable misbehavior.

Thanks for these. I shared them on my facebook page http://www.facebook.com/Cooperativekids

Hi, I do all of these things. Honestly I can't possibly give my son all the attention that he wants. And he is just a little bit naughty, mostly good of course. For instance I gently redirected him concerning proper play with his toy plane over the last week. Today while vaccuming he used his plane to scratch lines 10ft long down a wall and make about a hundred little holes. Now he had attention before all this. I sat and ate breakfast with him, I played with him. I was talking to him. I let him vaccum a bit per him to help me. I simply was vaccuming when he did this. So. What is a parent to do?
