My daughter and I have been implementing the special "mommy and issy" time every morning for 15 minutes for the past 2 weeks. I actually set the timer and give her my full attention. It is absolutely amazing what a profound effect this small thing has had on our interactions. We both look forward to it and she reminds me if we haven't had our time. She was having frequent melt downs that I was attributing to tiredness but adding special time is the only thing we changed and she has not had any melt downs since we added this to our routine Amazingly, we feel more connected the entire day! It is like magic. It has been great for me too because it forces me to leave my "to do list" and just focus on her for that short time. We even have a 10 month old baby who is still in the room with us playing alongside us and we are still just able to focus on each other during that time. Reinforces how important the small stuff actually is in our children's lives and how a liittle can go a long way
Wonderful wonderful advice.
